Donut Socks

It’s already been more than two weeks into January but…

Happy New Year!

Thanks so much for continuing visiting this blog.

My work involves some social media related tasks, so I really enjoyed taking a break from social media including blogging during the holidays.

The pandemic is unfortunately still around us, but I hope 2022 will be a little gentler year for everyone.

Soon after the new year’s day, I went back to work and my volunteering has resumed again. So it’s time to get back to blogging as well.

I sewed a couple of garments in November and December but sadly I haven’t finished editing photos for those.

So what I’m sharing today is this year’s my first make! (That’s probably more fitting for this year’s first post anyway!)

Back in December, Ancient Arts Yarns had their “12 Days of Christmas”. During those days, they released special colourways each day.

In which, they released a limited colourway called “Office Donut Party”.

Here’s what they said about this colourway:

It’s that time of year, when the Official Office Elf decides that everyone should bring some fancy Christmas baking to share at the Christmas Party.
In honour of the brave soul who decides to stop at the donut shop instead, this colourway brings the yummy taste of a fresh donut with sprinkles on top! This colourway will knock your socks off - or at least one. Which is why each skein of Office Donut Party comes with a cute sock stitch marker!

I loved this colourway so much that I made a little drawing… (I’ve been practicing on drawing on my iPad!)

Ancient Arts Yarns is a popular and well-known brand that needs no introduction but in case you’re not familiar with them; they’re an amazing Canadian company. They’re truly talented in what they do!

This colourway was already adorable in skein, but look how cute these turned out!

I’ve been attracted to brown colours recently and I love this base colour too.

The pastel rainbow colours of the sprinkle part are just so adorable!

“Offie Donut Party” colourway is not a self-striping yarn, but rather, it’s variegated.

But there is a subtle pattern to it and I think you could do a planned pooling with this, if you wanted.

Since it is variegated, the way the colour/pattern shows up is determined (mostly) by the number of stitches.

You can see how it has a different stripes around toes and heels where there are increases/decreases of stitches.

I love these so much!

This time (unlike the last time I made a pair), I didn’t have any trouble deciding on my gauge. I knit them as I normally do on 2.25 mm needles and came out nicely!

I think this pair is going to become one of my favourite socks!
