Scalloped Top

I have a thing for scalloped hems and designs. So I've always wanted to sew something with a scalloped hem and I finally did it!

I used a double gauze fabric that I bought in Japan. I think it’s a berry print, and looks like watercolour painting. It’s a very summery, beautiful print!

The pattern is from this Japanese magazine called Female, which no longer exists. This one is 2012 autumn issue.

I’ve made a couple changes such as lengthening the bodice and adding a flare (slightly.)

I loved the scalloped details on sleeves and on hem! It’s so pretty.

To make these hems, I had to do some hand stitching. It’s not my favourite things to do, but it was worth it!

This mint colour button is from my stash and I love the colour with this fabric! The tear drop shaped opening was hard to sew, but no one is looking at it that close, so I’d say it’s totally fine.

I’m especially loving the shape and the depth of the neck opening and the sleeve length!

(Have you noticed that my hands have weird sun-tanned gradients? I just noticed that now. It’s from going for walks with our pup.)

Now that I look at these photos, I think I could move the bust darts down by a bit. With fluffy fabric like double gauze, I could take in around the waist a little more too.

But over all, I’m very happy with how this turned out. I think this pattern and the fabric combo is so pretty.
