Champagne Cardigan

Hi everyone!

As always, I’m very behind on writing blog and some of the things I’ve been making are now out of season (fall-winter stuff). So I’ll just go ahead and do a short post (done is better than perfect, right?)

I had been wanting to knit a basic v-neck cardigan for a long time, and I finally did it!

Even though this is a timeless classic piece, I wanted to make it somewhat trendy, in a subtle way. To achieve that, I kept the fit pretty loose and boxy, and made the length a tad shorter than usual.

Pattern: Champagne Cardigan by PetiteKnit

Yarn: Sandnes Garn PetiteKnit Double Sunday (2542 Brown) / Sandnes Garn Tynn Silk Mohair (2543 Brunt Sukker)

This is a super popular pattern, so some of you might have knit this before, too. It’s been translated into nine languages currently, which is amazing!

I used suggested yarns since I really liked the look of the sample in the photos. They were expensive (to me), but I was able to buy them on sale!

I used to be a grey and black person when it comes to neutrals. Somehow, in the last year or so though, I’ve been really gravitating towards brown. So naturally, I picked out camel colours for the cardigan.

Although the pattern felt pretty straight forward top-down pattern, there were a few new-to-me techniques. (They provide Youtube videos for some of them!)

What I especially loved was how the button band and the button holes were created. Knitting the button band required some time, but the finish is so neat and pretty.

I think this is most satisfied result I’ve ever gotten for a button band. I’m very pleased with it!

I’m glad I kept the overall length a tad short—it goes really well with dresses.

The fit is loose and comfortable, and yet it doesn’t look so bulky which I’m really happy about.

The dress is one of my favourites—the Chasing Daisies Dress that I made in 2022.

You probably can’t see it well from the photos, but the merino and the mohair stranded together makes such a beautiful fabric. It really elevates this simple design. I’m glad I used the suggested yarn combo.

Really looking forward to wearing this in spring and fall.
