Canaan Hat

Happy new year!

I’m sure 2020 wasn’t what we expected for a lot of you (for me too) and I’m sure you’ve heard/read this sentence everywhere already.

So, how are you? How was 2020 for you?

For me, 2020 was the year I did a lot of thinking and asking questions. To live through major events—things that will become historic events that future generations will learn about in school—was a big reminder that we all need to learn and try how we could steer our future into a better one. And to do that, education is a big key. I hope that no matter what age, I can keep on learning.

Aside from those major events in the world, my much smaller world was a pretty good one, I’m lucky to say.

My niece was born, I was able to keep my job in a pandemic, husband and I have adapted to a healthier life style, our pup got to spent more time with us since we both worked from home.

I hope that 2021 will be a better and kinder year for many.

I have some personal goals this year, so I’ll be telling myself “just keep on moving!” , I’m sure.

Cheers to the new year!

So let’s talk about this hat.

I had a chance to see the sample of this hat in person and immediately fell in love with the slouchy shape and the softness of the yarn!

Luckily, I had the exact same yarn in my stash, so I started casting on right away.

Yarn: Rowan Alpaca Classic in 101 Feather Grey Melange

Pattern: Canaan Hat by Lisa Richardson (Ravelry)

Needle size: 5.0 and 5.5 mm

This yarn is a blend of 57% alpaca and 43% cotton and is really soft. Some alpaca can be itchy on my skin, but this one feels pretty comfortable to me.

It knits up quickly! I used two balls which is 50g in total. This hat is super light!

It has the right amount of slouch which I love!

It’s easy to knit and comfortable to wear, and this yarn comes in many beautiful colours, I’d love to knit another one!
