Chevron Scarf

I started this project in December, 2019… and then it was almost forgotten until I picked it up again this spring.

This scarf is pretty special to me.

I work for my local yarn shop (I know, I’m lucky!) Each year, they release a collection of special yarns that are limited. Last year’s collection’s theme was zodiac.

Last year was my first year to be a part of the planning portion of the project, so naturally the collection is very dear to me.

I used the colourway that was released in last April for Taurus zodiac sign to make this scarf. Aaand, I’m a Taurus!

Taurus colourway was actually a bundle of a Bluefaced Leicester wool and a kid mohair/silk skein. Dyed by Hand Maiden Fine Yarn.
The kid mohair/silk skeins is soft beige colour and the Bluefaced Leicester wool one is a blend of soft pink, beige, and a hint of green.

To go with this beautiful yarn bundle, I picked “Chevron Cloud” pattern by Espace Tricot.

I wanted something to showcase the differences of the two types of yarn, rather than knitting two strands together. I also wanted something light and simple, but not too lacy. The colour of the yarn was already pink and soft, so I wanted the design to be less on a sweet side. The chevron stitch pattern seemed pretty appropriate for what I was trying to achieve!

I’m really happy with how this turned out. I think the yarn and the pattern mesh well together, would you agree?

The fabric is light and airy, just the way I wanted it to be.

I’m not usually a pink person, but I’m actually really liking this! I think the mixture of the beige and the hint of green makes it very wearable for me. And the pink is more peachy which goes well with my skin tone.

I got two bundles of the Taurus colourway, and I used up both of them. I hadn’t made a scarf for a while, it was a great knit that was simple enough for movie nights.
